9 Month Stats

Miss C had her 9 month appt today. She's 17.7 lbs (24th percentile), 28 inches (57th percentile) and completely healthy. She had to get 2 shots, but was too upset by them.

2 preschoolers bowling =

2 crazy moms! Wow, bowling was an experience! Mr O and R1 had a great time, but man, did it stress me out! A bowling alley in Crystal City was having free bowling for kids and we decided to take the kids. To say it was crowded would be an understatement.

We had to wait a few minutes for a lane and during that time, Mr O managed to make his way over to another lane and throw one of their balls down the lane. At least it was free, right? We finally got our lane and tried to explain to the kids that they had to wait their turn. Yeah right. I'm not sure how many times the poor guy had to come over and return a ball to us because it didn't make it all the way down the lane. I wasn't aware that it was possible to get so many gutter balls with bumpers. Leave it to our 2 kids.

Mr O loved it and wants to go back. I think it would be fun and a much better experience if it weren't so crowded and we didn't have to keep score and reset the pins ourselves.

First Day

Today was the first real day of preschool. Mr. O had orientation last week and did great, but today was the real test. The hubs took off work today and we took Mr. O out to lunch (Steak N Shake, his choice) and then headed over to school. I was fine until we pulled into the parking lot and then thought that I might get upset. As we're walking up to the school and I'm getting sadder, Mr. O starts yelling, "Yay, it's school! Yay, I'm at school!" How could I be sad when he was so excited?! He definately made it easier on me, I would have lost it if he was upset.

Snack was the highlight of the day. He was excited that he had cereal (cheerios) and apple juice at school. That and the fact that he washed dishes in the play sink were the only details I could get out of him at first. I later learned that he sang a song, read a book about a dog name Spot, went down the slide, and of course had snack.

First Ponytail

Miss C was born with a head of hair, but was pretty much bald by 5 months. Her hair's coming in nicely now and she has enough for a tiny ponytail. My camera battery died, but I managed to get a few pics of her at the park with her new 'do.

We were at Bee Tree park with R1 and R2 for some end of summer fun. The kids had a blast playing and digging in the sand/rock mixture and were a complete mess by the time we had lunch. Super messy=super fun!

Choo-Choo

So as a treat (ok, bribe) to get Mr. O to start potty training, we promised to take him on a train ride once he was out of diapers. We finally got around to taking him on his trip and it was a blast. It was so much fun watching his face as the train pulled up and as he looked out the window. We went out to Washington MO for breakfast and then headed back home. We're thinking about taking a trip to either KC or Chicago in the spring.

What a Big Girl!

Miss C is 9 months old today! I have no idea where the past nine months have gone, they've flown by for sure. My baby's getting big :( She's crawling all over, pulling up, cruising, attempting to stand on her own, feeding herself, getting into trouble with her brother, giving kisses, waving, giving high-fives, and completely stealing our hearts. She's so much fun to be around and I love watching her and Mr. O interact. She completely adores him!

On another note

So Miss C isn't a huge fan of people besides Mr. O and myself. Occasionally her daddy is ok, but not too often. I had a dentist appointment today and I was so nervous about how she'd behave for my friend. I got home from the appointment to find that she was absolutely fine! A little fussing when she woke up from her nap and that was it! I'm so happy that she wasn't any trouble and now I feel more comfortable about leaving her with others. The hubs and I will definately be taking advantage of this new discovery and going to a much needed dinner....alone.

Preschool....*tear*

I've been talking up preschool for the past few weeks and Mr. O has recently gotten super excited about it. Well, today was the big day and I honestly had no idea how he'd do. It was only orientation, but still, it was his first taste of school.

He was so excited when he got up that he didn't want to wait to leave. We finally got out the door, along with his folder, a picture for Mista Baaarb (Miss Barb), and a few, ok more than a few, pictures of his first day.

I love his preschool and am so happy with our decision. Seeing him there, playing, having fun, leaving with his teacher without so much as a "bye mommy" made me so proud of him, and I won't lie, it did break my heart at the same time.

Everything was going amazingly well until I went into his classroom to get him. He was playing and all of a sudden he looked up at me with this shocked face. I looked down in time to see a puddle forming on the ground. So we got through the day without tears, but we did have an accident. While I was helping him change in the bathroom, he said, "I didn't want to go pee in my pants. I didn't know the potty here though." Poor kid. He hasn't had an accident in forever and was just too scared or nervous to ask where the potty was.

All in all, I think it was a great day and ended with Owen crying to go back. A good sign for next week? Let's hope so!

Picnic Fun

I guess it happens anywhere, you take for granted the things around you that you see on a daily basis. My kids have never been in the Arch and I'm not sure they've even been down on the Arch grounds, even though we see it several times a week. We were able to enjoy a picnic under the Arch with some gorgeous weather and good friends. I couldn't take them up in it, Mike would have killed me if we did that while he was working, but I think the up close and personal look is good enough for a while.

The weather was amazing today so a trip to the City Garden was in order since we were already downtown. This place is seriously Mr. O's new favorite. He immediately ran for the wading pool, not bothering to take off his shirt or change shorts. Miss C was spent from the picnic and lack of napping, so she wasn't nearly as excited about the City Garden adventure. She did pose for a few pictures though (please excuse the messy face!).
