Preschool....*tear*

I've been talking up preschool for the past few weeks and Mr. O has recently gotten super excited about it. Well, today was the big day and I honestly had no idea how he'd do. It was only orientation, but still, it was his first taste of school.

He was so excited when he got up that he didn't want to wait to leave. We finally got out the door, along with his folder, a picture for Mista Baaarb (Miss Barb), and a few, ok more than a few, pictures of his first day.

I love his preschool and am so happy with our decision. Seeing him there, playing, having fun, leaving with his teacher without so much as a "bye mommy" made me so proud of him, and I won't lie, it did break my heart at the same time.

Everything was going amazingly well until I went into his classroom to get him. He was playing and all of a sudden he looked up at me with this shocked face. I looked down in time to see a puddle forming on the ground. So we got through the day without tears, but we did have an accident. While I was helping him change in the bathroom, he said, "I didn't want to go pee in my pants. I didn't know the potty here though." Poor kid. He hasn't had an accident in forever and was just too scared or nervous to ask where the potty was.

All in all, I think it was a great day and ended with Owen crying to go back. A good sign for next week? Let's hope so!

Picnic Fun

I guess it happens anywhere, you take for granted the things around you that you see on a daily basis. My kids have never been in the Arch and I'm not sure they've even been down on the Arch grounds, even though we see it several times a week. We were able to enjoy a picnic under the Arch with some gorgeous weather and good friends. I couldn't take them up in it, Mike would have killed me if we did that while he was working, but I think the up close and personal look is good enough for a while.

The weather was amazing today so a trip to the City Garden was in order since we were already downtown. This place is seriously Mr. O's new favorite. He immediately ran for the wading pool, not bothering to take off his shirt or change shorts. Miss C was spent from the picnic and lack of napping, so she wasn't nearly as excited about the City Garden adventure. She did pose for a few pictures though (please excuse the messy face!).

So Over It

My son's attitude, that is. I can't deal with it anymore. He woke up whining today, which is never a good sign. After a 45 minute tantrum/fit because he put his shirt on upside and I tried to fix it, I thought maybe things would get better. Wrong. Story time went well, the park went ok, and things took a major turn for the worse on the way home. We passed a McDonald's and I didn't stop to get him an apple juice, so another fit of at least 45 minutes ensued. There was another tantrum this evening, but at this point I can't even remember what started it.

The List

While reading some random blogs, I ran across this. It sounds like so much fun, I'm totally going to start working on my list. Any suggestions?

So Mr O has woken up a few times tonight for a drink and asked me to hold his hand until he fell back asleep. I hung out in his bed for a few minutes after he finally dozed off just watching him sleep. He looks like such a big kid now, it's so sad. I've been thinking a lot about him getting older, starting school, etc lately and it's so bittersweet to me. I love seeing how he's growing and what kind of person he's becoming, but it seems like I just brought him home from the hospital.

We survived!

Mike was gone for the weekend to Memphis with some friends and I was home alone with the kids. Not that I'm not with them alone everyday, but I was worried about not having the added help in the evenings. We had a great time and things went incredibly smoothly.

I let Mr O choose what he wanted for dinner Friday night and he picked McDonald's (big surprise!). Baths and bed went well until Mr O started asking to "just see my daddy." Poor thing broke my heart. He was easily consoled and was asleep quickly.

Another trip to Soulard on Saturday, this time with cash in hand. I always say I need to go there more often, but after looking at how much I got for so little, I'm going to make it a point to go weekly. It's ridiculous how much $ I saved and I like supporting the local farmers.

Mr O was so well-behaved the whole weekend. I love when he listens and behaves, it makes me feel like crap when it seems like my days are spent correcting him. He's just so much fun to be around when he's like this. Not that I don't love being with him all the time, him being in a great mood just makes everything so much better. And Miss C, well she was super cute as always, even if she was a little under the weather. Her little tooth finally broke through, so hopefully she's on the upswing.

Again, no pics for some reason. Usually I'm crazy with the camera, but I've been slacking lately. Definately need to get on that.

What a Trooper!

So Miss C had to go to the doctor today because she's been running a low temp off and on all week with a nasty nose to go with it. She started pulling her ears last night, so I figured I'd call. The poor girl has a virus, ear infection, and is getting another tooth! You wouldn't know that anything's wrong with her other than being a little clingy. Poor baby.

Love this

I love days like today. Love them. Our first trip to Soulard this year was great, aside from the fact that I didn't bring cash with me, but that just means we've already gotten another trip planned. Both kids behaved wonderfully and seemed to enjoy the trip.

After a quick lunch, we headed over to the CityGarden, which is quickly becoming one of Mr O's fav places. If you haven't been, it's an awesome sculpture/splash park downtown. It's definately worth checking out if you have little ones. Miss C had a good time splashing around and was even filmed for a few minutes by FSN. We'll have to watch to see if this is Miss C's tv debut.

Of course people had to come see the house tonight, so we played ball outside while waiting for them. I love how Mr O can totally crack Miss C up! She absolutely loves to watch him play and I love to hear the two of them giggling at each other.
